The Hudson County Department of Corrections is a well known correctional facility located in the state of New Jersey. The Hudson County Correctional center has a main objective of maintaining the best possible security, as well as custody and control of all inmates in the facility. Compared to a traditional jail, Direct Supervision has shown to be a more efficient approach to improve overall security and decrease the amount of tension in the facility. Hudson County, New Jersey was founded in September 1840, during the separation from Bergen County and the Correctional facility was established shortly after. The average daily population of the of the jail is 1,951 with the supervised population being 1,917. Recent statistics show there are 1,892 convicted adults in the jail.
