Cape May County Jail  

Capemay County jail can hold up to 181 inmates including 30 female inmates. This jail is located in the United States in the state of New Jersey. This correctional center was built in 1977. This jail sits on 18 acres. A medical department, a food service department, an administration department, an operations office, a maintenance department, an inmate department, and correctional officers that cover three shifts make up this jail. The inmates may be part of the clean streets program or the work release program. The medical center at this facility has been accredited four times within the past twelve years.

Capemay County jail completes annual inspections ever year successfully. The jail has a mission to operate efficient, effective and safe for the inmates who are incarcerated here, for the public, and for the staff who is employed here. They also have a philosophy and that is to provide for the health, safety and welfare of those who are in their care and custody. Services, rights and protection are placed on self-improvement and rehabilitation for the inmates. Minor construction and renovation has taken place at the facility in order to expand it. This facility is located at Exit 11 on the Garden State Parkway.

This jail use to have a workhouse, but it was decommissioned in 1977. A GED program, bible study program and Alcoholic Anonymous are other programs that are offered at the jail. This jail had a farm at one time. The farm no longer exists. The kitchen at the jail is run by a private service.
